Michael, John, et al,

My read on today's SBC/COVD announcement is that SBC will be a reseller for COVD: biz.yahoo.com

"The commercial agreement includes a guaranteed $600 million in resale revenue to Covad which will be phased in over six years starting October 1, 2000. The agreement also provides incentives for SBC to sell business lines provided by Covad. SBC will begin marketing both symmetric business service DSL and asymmetric consumer service DSL provided by Covad throughout the US. The companies will work together on network, provisioning and product planning activities needed to support this agreement."

COVD will continue to use their existing suppliers. SBC will continue to use their existing suppliers. The market is so big they both realize that working together will accelerate the acceptance of xDSL and both will profit handsomely. Just like WSTL which is shipping boatloads of CPE to SBC.

Bottom line is that neither entity will be juggling equipment suppliers any time soon, especially on the CPE side. All IMHO of course.

Best regards,
Gary

I was informed that COVD uses EFNT...can anyone confirm or counter?

Hope this doesn't lock WSTL out.
