The good old days of Systems Engineers and Service Bureau Corporation.
IBM's SEs used to own the customers, because they can make things happen for customers.
So mass market is now recognizing the force of centralization.
But just like AA consulting found that they can't be subserviant to the accounting principals, they will have problems serving two masters, customer and hardware manufacturers.
Every company who acquired consulting companys will find that they are paying top dollar for a business, where there is fleeting loyalty.
I would sell HP, if I own it and buy Dell.
