The market does know how to punish companies. I've been tracking some 14 companies since March 23 when things started to go sour. Of the 14, as of yesterday only four of them had managed to get their stock price back above what it was on March 23. They are GE who was 53.333 (split adjusted)and closed yesterday 59 11/16, up 11.9% from March 23; IBM who was 115 1/4 and closed yesterday 124 1/2, up 8 %, Nortel who was 68.63 (split adjusted) and closed yesterday 69 1/16, up 0.6%, and Sun Microsystems who was 97 13/16 and closed yesterday 115 1/4, up 17.8%

The rest are down, AOL -20.5%, CSCO -21.4%, JDSU -18.5%, LU -40.5% and suffering today, MOT -38.4% knocked down and staying down, MSFT -38.5%, NOK -22.6%; ORCL -4%, QCOM -59.7% and down for some time with no recovery in sight, and YHOO -44.3% and seeing bad press these days.

Just checked and see LUCENT @ 37 3/16, down -1 11/16 with 20,076,600 shares trading in 12,366 trades so far. 20 million shares by noontime is a lot of shares for this stock to be moving, although the price has hung in there for an hour or more.

Put your money on GE and watch it grow slowly while weathering most of the stormy clouds of the market.....ANON
