Some of the synthetic long positions are looking pretty good, given the range of the 'daq stuck between 3750 and 4250. Given the volatility, you could liquidate your long call and long put for a big profit in the same friggen day! It's kinda tough with the stocks' long positions though.

Some of the bank and utility stocks are semi-rallying (defensive plays) and the gasoline and home heating oil futures have the makings to be some real butt kickers for the Jan contracts, if we have a normal or cold winter on the East Coast.
If the economy slows down further in the next two months, the Fed's gonna have to lower the rates to jump start. There's already grumblings inside the Palace saying the rate hikes were too much too soon. Raising rates is out of the question, IMHO. Decrease by early next year maybe? Bull markets END with the Fed raising rates, and start again when the Fed LOWERS rates. This one looks to follow that scenario.
The oil supply shocks make an interesting situation, as the Fed is helpless against OPEC and other supply shocks. And I don't think OPEC releasing a paltry 800,000 more barrels a day is going to bring back the necessary reserves. Jeez, I hope that crystal ball and magic wand had fully charged batteries...

Anyone else making predictions?
