Tue 19 Sept 2000 News Release
Ms. Gail Oliver reports
Linmor Technologies has joined the Micromuse Developers Alliance of
Micromuse Inc. (Nasdaq: MUSE), the leading provider of fault and
service-level management software. As a Micromuse Netcool Ready partner,
Linmor will license the Netcool Software Development Kit to develop a
network interface with Netcool applications and create a Netcool Ready
solution for Linmor's Nebula Performance Monitor (PM). The Micromuse
Developers Alliance is a program for leading independent technology
providers seeking to develop and offer integrated, off-the-shelf,
multivendor, open OSS management solutions to service providers and
corporate customers.
"Maintaining fast, reliable delivery of mission critical information is the
key to success in the carrier industry. Integrating the Netcool fault
management applications with Linmor's Nebula PM will enable network service
providers to offer premiere-quality data services to their customers," said
John Farrell, president, chairman and chief executive officer of Linmor.
"The combination of Micromuse's Netcool suite with Nebula PM and our
commitment to the Micromuse Developers Alliance program, will provide our
customers with a complete network performance management solution."
The integration of Nebula PM with Netcool will enable data collected by
Nebula PM to be displayed in the Netcool EventList console. This will allow
network operations administrators to provide enhanced solutions for
efficient network fault analysis and network resource availability to help
predict and prevent network slowdowns and interruptions in network-based
customer services. The applications provided by Nebula PM and the Netcool
suite provide service providers with the tools they need to deliver
enhanced service assurance and full network integrity to their customers.
"We are delighted that Linmor has joined the Micromuse Developers
Alliance," said Tim Tokarsky, Micromuse's senior vice-president, business
development. "The goal of the program is to provide off-the-shelf,
integrated solutions for our mutual customers. Integrating Netcool software
and Nebula Performance Monitor means that network service providers will
have a completely integrated fault and performance management system for
their complex network infrastructure, allowing them to provide an even
higher level of quality of service to their customers."
The Micromuse Developers Alliance provides Micromuse and its alliance
partners with the resources to co-operatively pursue business, technical
and marketing opportunities. Already a significant number of vendors have
expressed interest in Micromuse's Developers Alliance to develop and
provide off-the-shelf, integrated solutions for mutual customers. Toward
that end, Micromuse actively enlists best-in-class solutions providers
offering complementary applications. Micromuse furnishes its approved
Netcool Ready Partners with the Netcool Software Developers Kit (SDK).
Provided in CD-ROM format, the Netcool SDK provides all the tools necessary
to develop Netcool probes, gateways and data source adapters.
Micromuse's Netcool software suite collects management data from more than
200 management environments and network devices, including voice, data and
Internet. Fault data is rapidly processed and filtered by the Netcool
ObjectServer, an in-memory database. The Netcool application allows
operators to build views of service availability in real time, helping them
manage networks more efficiently. Because it is scalable and deploys
rapidly, the Netcool business model allows service providers to expand
their networks as their markets grow.
Linmor's Nebula Performance Monitor provides essential capabilities to
manage the Internet infrastructure, in particular Internet core and access
networks such as IP, ATM, Frame Relay and DSL. Through both real-time and
historical performance reporting, Nebula PM assists network administrators
with the day-to-day management of Internet and data networks, as well as
capacity planning for future growth. Linmor and Micromuse will showcase
their integrated network performance and fault management solution at the
DSLCon Fall 2000 exposition and conference in Boston, Mass., Sept. 19 to
21.
