<LOL> Of course they can always regurgitate old news, change a few key sentences and pass it up as new announcement, as dot-com media gimmick always do:

Trade fizzles, Ewing could remain with New York

by Mike Dougherty
The (Westchester, N.Y.) Journal News
NEW YORK - There is no apparent hurry to deal Patrick Ewing.

While the unhappy center isn't thrilled with the prospect of another season with the New York Knicks, a source within the organization confirmed that he has issued no ultimatums. Another year in New York isn't totally out of the question.

Still, trade talks continued yesterday. A reported three-way exchange that would have moved Ewing to Seattle, Horace Grant to the Los Angeles Lakers, and Glenn Rice to the Knicks appears to have fizzled. While the Knicks have been interested in obtaining the sure-shot forward Rice all summer, they aren't willing to give up their most productive post player.

In order to make everything work under the collective bargaining agreement, several marginal players would have also changed teams.

Because no trade-me-or-else statement has been made, the Knicks are trying to squeeze more talent out of Seattle or Los Angeles before agreeing to deal a center.

And they could still get Rice another way. Chicago offered Rice $5.5 million for one season, but if that's off the table, he's got no choice but to sign for the mid-level exception.
