Ron, I concur that the energy spiraling cost has the potential for very damaging reprecussions throughout the economy and world. People are going to be it with heating bills 50 to 100% higher than last year. This will put a big dent in disposable income and in psychology. (tell your teenage daughter she can't go to the mall because of the $300 heating bill!). Additionally, Asia in particular, will be severly restrained by the additional energy costs.
In the US, we are aided by the strong dollar, which reduces the currency cost of foreign oil, and by the technology and services nature of our industries. but it will still hurt. I have part of my portfolio in energy stocks, not enuf obviously. i am having a hard time figuring out this utility stock move though. larry
