The highly weathered pipe was encountered in reconnaissance drilling carried out in May 2000. The next drill program, to commence later this year, will take deeper cuts of the pipe, with material to be processed and tested for diamonds by Lakefield Research Ltd. Using the aeromagnetic signature for the newly discovered pipe, further targets have been identified within a recently expanded exploration license area now exceeding 1,150 square kilometres. An in-fill aeromagnetic survey is also planned. Further surface work will also be carried out on a target where two micro-diamonds were found on surface, associated with abundant chrome- spinels in material having kimberlite affinities. This target was drilled in May, with limited success, but it now appears that the geological interpretation may have missed the primary target. In light of the recent data, JV operator Caldera Resources is confident of discoveries of additional pipes. SouthernEra Chairman Chris Jennings said the Western Australia program with Caldera "is highly encouraging. This project has quickly developed the potential for a significant diamond discovery." SouthernEra is earning a 51% interest in the JV by spending C$1.0 million over four years. SouthernEra Resources Limited is a diamond mining and exploration company and an emerging platinum group metals producer. The common shares of SouthernEra are traded under the symbol SUF on The Toronto Stock Exchange. %SEDAR: 00004535E -30- For further information: SouthernEra Resources Ltd.: Christopher M. H.
