First, it doesn't matter even if you were factually correct (you are not). The margin of error has to always be factored in. It is the confidence interval. Say Gore gets a 47. When there is a margin of error of plus or minus 4, it means that they are 95% confident that the correct number is between 43 and 51. Bush gets 41. They are 95% confident that the correct number is between 37 and 45. They are not sure enough to certify the exact number, and they overlap. Thus, a statistical tie. That is how you read polls.

Second, Bush was, in fact, one point ahead in the CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll of September 8th. They have been in a precise tie in three other polls since the 6th. And the even apart from those polls, the Gore lead has fluctuated from 1 point to 9 in these various polls. All of this corroborates the idea that it is too close to tell.......
