I did not see the "60 Minutes" segment on Texas schools. I believe you are absolutely 100% correct in saying that voters have had enough of the rage factor as well as the hypocrisy of the Clinton impeachment proceedings, a view reiterated by Geraldo Rivera on the Leno show last night.

Bush is caught in a dilemma. For him to reach out to the undecideds and independents, he needs to move a little to the left on gun control, other issues, too. But if he does that, then he risks alienating the right wing of the Republican Party.

The Republicans erred by "annointing" Bush as their candidate two years ago instead of letting the process sort itself out through the primaries.

I also caught part of Gore on Oprah. Likewise, I am anxious to see Bush with her. I suspect he will come across as a fairly likeable guy if Oprah asks him the same softball questions that she asked Gore. I think Mrs. GWB is a fine person, and they apparently did a good job of raising their daughters.

As an aside, it just occurred to me: Was Laura Bush ever a member of the NEA or the Texas Teachers Association?
