I for one don't get this oil thing... In 98 there were zillions of suv's on the road and oil was dropping in price.. The economy was booming then as well . How come there is suddenly not enough oil. According to the latest hype , they can't pump any more crude, and they now have no more refinery capacity.. Hype is so intoxicating, isn't it....Ho ho ho

i agree...what's more, any drawdown of the SPR will require to rebuild it at a later stage...it's not a conventional source of supply after all.
no-one can accuse OPEC of not playing ball at this stage...we're simply reaching the point where unrelated constraints begin to hit home. as you say, the refineries are running at full capacity, and then there's the fact that there are only so many oil tankers...i think there are about 500 worldwide...
