Somewhat related: There was some news concerning a research study that showed Nokia, Motorola, and Ericsson each lost some market share in the overall cell phone market. It is well established that CDMA subscribers are increasing at a faster rate than GSM/TDMA. Thus, one can draw an inference that the loss of market share among the GSM crowd may be explained partly by a steady increase in sales of CDMA handsets. The largest CDMA handset manufacturers currently appear to be Samsung and Kyocera. If the inference is true, i.e., that CDMA handset business remains brisk, then we should see some improvement in the royalty stream that QCOM reports in its next earnings statement.

Of course, it's going to be awhile before some of these influential analysts realize what's happening, leaving the rest of us perhaps the last good buying opportunity.
