Charley, you previously asked, "how did it come to this?" On a different site, speaking to a different subject, someone else asked "how did Americans get so stupid?" This is a reply to that question that I thought was pretty good: Phil we got this stupid because we killed all the heroes. There is a school of thought that all the heroes are somehow flawed and must be taken down so we knocked down George Washington and Tom Jefferson hell we even pooped on Roy Rogers and John Wayne. We got this stupid because we turned our backs on religion, what ever you think of it and yes, I know it has its faults but it was the basic cornerstone of absolute values. Society likes a "if it feels good do it" set of values because then it can run on feelings instead of honor. We got this stupid because we listened to a bunch of pointy headed shrinks that are nuttier than we are tell us that nothing is right or wrong. It depends on the situation they say and what you do isn't your fault and you should not be held accountable for your own actions. People love to blame others instead of examining self. We got this stupid becase people bought into the idea that Government can solve all their problems instead of being a necessary evil to hold society together. Government is the antithesis of liberty but pure liberty is anarchy so some government is necessary. We got this stupid because for the first time in our nations history we lost the will to fight. We lost a war. We lost it not because the military was outclassed or ineffective but because we lost the will to fight. Let's just leave out the rights and wrongs of that war and focus on the fact that we didn't win it because we were not willing to do what it took to win. The will to fight. We got this stupid because we allowed the family unit to break down. There are too many families being headed by females and being instilled with female values instead of male values. Those values are different. I am not saying one is right the other wrong but I do say male values are necessary for successful battle. And we are in battle for the survival of our country. It is early in the day for a soap box so I will climb down from mine now. That isn't all the reasons we got so stupid Phil but it is enough to start on. BCR
