You're right, it was McNealy who came up with that tagline; but Ellison bought into it as well, and it was Oracle that introduced the concept of the network computer. I still get a good laugh out of those Oracle TV ads showing a kid from the wrong side of the tracks finally getting a chance to be connected to the rest of the world thanks to an NC. The comment Ellison made back in '96 (or was it '97?) regarding how, by 2000, NCs would be outselling PCs also still has its humor. Nothing drives smart men delusional quite like Gates-envy.

Regarding why I haven't written anything on my site for a little while: the primary problem right now is time. When I whittle away at a message board, I'm just writing things that are on the top of my head at a given moment. When I write a report, I feel that I need to do some research and put some time into it in order to do it well. With my job, and a couple of other things that are occupying my time right now, it becomes difficult to get that kind of work done.
