European Union Diesel Prices

There is a chart in my favorite newspaper, the "Financial Times" in the 12 Sept Issue that shows the diesel prices in 13 European countries, starting with the UK and ending with Portugal. Price per litre in Euros for the UK, (the highest price) is 1.32 which breaks down to .32 excluding taxes, .80 for taxes and .20 for VAT (value added tax). Portugal, the lowest is .29 euros excluding taxes, .25 taxes and .09 VAT for a total of .62 Euros per litre.

If I am reading the data on your link correctly, it looks like gas is much cheaper than diesel but wait, I guess it gives the prices in pounds, so would be something like 1.4 pounds per USD and .86 euros per USD which gives me too much of a conversion problem along with 3.75 or so liters per US gallon vice the imperial gallon vice the 40 gallon barrel vice the, well you get the picture.
