(BSNS WIRE) Loch Harris To Hold Press Conference and ELF Demonstration On C
Loch Harris To Hold Press Conference and ELF Demonstration On Capitol Hill

Business Editors & Feature Writers

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 2000--Loch Harris Inc.
(OTCBB:LOCH) will hold a press conference to demonstrate its ELF (an
acronym for Eliminate Landmines Forever) landmine detector on the
grounds of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000.
U.S. Capitol Police officers, under the supervision of a licensed
special explosive expert, will handle samples of the most common
landmine explosives (TNT, PETN and RDX) near the "House Triangle" on
the Southeast side of the U.S. Capitol. The ELF will be put through a
series of detection and identification blind tests before government
officials, the press and the public.
U.S. Representative Ron Klink (D-PA), sponsor of the
demonstration, recently issued a letter to his colleagues in the House
of Representatives encouraging them to attend the demonstration.
Dr. Henry Blair, chief scientist for ChemTech, (a Loch Harris
Inc. subsidiary) explained some of the principles behind the ELF
technology.
"A significant portion of the effluent from the explosive
contained inside the landmine is absorbed onto soil particles in the
immediate vicinity of the explosive device. This allows our remote
sensing system using low energy X-rays to sample the surface and
subsurface and detect the return fluorescence energy."
One current demining technique consists of slowly probing the
earth, inch by inch, with metal rods looking for landmines. ELF
combines X-ray and florescent technologies in a portable device with a
forward-looking range of two meters.
"According to the American Red Cross there are more than 110
million landmines in over 80 countries," said Loch Harris
CEO/President Rodney Boone. "Every 22 minutes an innocent civilian
dies from a landmine explosion. ELF could possibly be used to assist
in locating buried landmines and explosives in The Balkans,
Mozambique, Cambodia, Vietnam and other affected countries around the
world."

Jim,

I did email TXMC regarding that - if I get a response I will post it. Did you watch ITGI - looks like they are down 1/2 on the news.

Jim,

Just got a response from TXMC (Tirex). Here it is just in case you or anyone else are interested:

>>>Hello Pat,
Tirex current business strategy is the manufacturing and marketing of the TCS system. We are not at this time operating the TCS-1 here in Montreal to recycle tires and produce crumb rubber. The TCS-1 is, for the time being, used to demonstrate the system to potential international customers.

That being said, and to answer your question . . . Yes, Tirex will have a 'no sort policy'.
