SAVVIS Enhances Intelligent IP Network With Nortel Networks Optical Internet Solutions

BOSTON, Sept. 13 /CNW/ - SAVVIS Communications (NASDAQ: SVVS), a premier
Intelligent IP networking service provider, has signed an estimated US$155
million contract with Nortel Networks (NYSE/TSE: NT) to deploy high-
performance, next-generation Optical Internet solutions.
Over the next 42 months, SAVVIS has agreed to purchase Nortel Networks
OPTera Optical Internet solutions -- including Nortel Networks OPTera Long
Haul 1600 Optical Line System and Nortel Networks OPTera Connect DX Connection
Manager -- to build a flexible, highly-reliable optical backbone connecting 50
U.S. and Canadian markets.
SAVVIS is currently implementing Nortel Networks Shasta 5000 Broadband
Service Nodes (BSN) throughout its global network, which powers more than
4,700 financial institutions, 75 of the top 100 worldwide banks, and 45 of the
top 50 brokerage firms.

performance of our global network for our customers," said Rob McCormick,
chief executive officer, SAVVIS.
"Implementing Nortel Networks OPTera solutions in our fiber backbone,
along with the state-of-the-art routers and other network components we have
selected, will enable us to increase network performance, scalability and
flexibility, which translates into more differentiation and competitive
advantages for our customers as their network requirements grow," McCormick
said.

the performance of Nortel Networks OPTera solutions in the core with the

Nortel Networks will also provide SAVVIS with professional services
including program management, engineering and equipment installation, and
assistance in building its Network Operations Center for the optical network.

Ken, great article on NT. Those were very convincing comments from NT. That is super bullish. No wonder the stock is taking off.

For a while I thought my call options buying on weakness was going to be a failure but have been buying even more today--NT and GLW.
