SCI stated seasonal weakness specifically in set top boxes (per conference call). this is a category in which Dell doesn't imbide.

Dell purchases some electronic components, not finished systems, from SCI. the components division for SCI, they stated is doing fine (per conference call)

the competition for set top boxes has been increasing the past six months with the entry of others; so it would seem normal for SCI to experience weakness.

nevertheless, CNBC played up an HP/CPQ connection without fully defining what was "weak" at SCI. they invent what they will.

per IDC, those who would normally purchase a "set top box" have shown increasing interest in the (real) Personal Computer (a switch).
