Hybrid Networks Introduces Enhanced Wireless Broadband Router(TM) SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 13 /PRNewsire/ -- Hybrid Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: HYBR - news), the worldwide leader in MMDS fixed broadband wireless Internet-access systems, today announced it has introduced an enhanced Wireless Broadband Router(TM) (WBR) that is part of its two-way fixed broadband wireless system. The WBR-60-231-B router, manufactured by Sharp Corporation of Japan, features an improved equalizer that, coupled with the company's patented use of 2MHz sub-channels, can significantly reduce distortion, decrease data errors and improve reliability. The WBR-60-231B, which replaces Hybrid's N-231, CCM-231, and WBR-60-231, converts data from personal computers to signals that are transmitted over radio frequencies, enabling two-way wireless high-speed Internet access. Hybrid will begin shipping the routers to customers next week. ``We're continuing to develop technology that enables our customers to deploy reliable, large-scale networks in the most cost-effective manner,'' said Michael D. Greenbaum, president and CEO of Hybrid Networks. ``Our enhanced Wireless Broadband Router is the latest component of a system that reflects our commitment to developing technologically advanced solutions for companies that want to deliver high-speed Internet access.'' The WBR-60-231-B is built on one circuit board, improving its field reliability by simplifying the manufacturing process and reducing production errors. The router allows up to 60 public or private IP addresses, significantly greater than the 16 normally available from cable television Internet service providers using ``DOCSIS'' standards. The WBR is also available with 5 or 20 IP address capabilities.
