I have not seen the announcement but I understand Prudential has downgraded AMD from a Strong Buy to Accumulate.

Intel, Advanced Micro Cut by Banc of America's Whittington

New York, Sept. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. fell after Banc of America Securities LLC analyst Richard Whittington lowered his rating on the chipmakers to ``market perform'' from ``strong buy.''

Intel fell 2.56 to 62.38 and Advanced Micro dropped 1.81 to 28.69.

Whittington didn't immediately publish a written report. Banc of America spokeswoman Koryn Kelley confirmed the analyst lowered his ratings.

Whittington warned slowing demand for computer chips and production problems could hurt Intel, according to Timothy Ghriskey, a portfolio manager for Dreyfus Corp. Banc of America salespeople communicated Whittington's comments over the phone to Dreyfus traders before markets opened.
