I wonder about the loss of the ETEK President and what's really happening with that "personal interests" thing. I wonder if that was a planned succession. I talked to a guy in the industry yesterday who'd just had a beer with a top guy at JDSU and KK, and he said things are going great at ETEK. If management positions are being shifted and/or created, chalk it up to the inevitabilities of growing so rapidly. Incidentally, I've been watching ETEK closely, wondering how the merger would shake out, so was relieved to hear how well the transition is going. I suspect when products are selling and you can see positive results of your efforts on a daily basis it makes leaving less tempting. Since this friend had just been with KK, I asked how the SDL merger was going and he said they wouldn't have begun the process if they thought there was any chance it wouldn't pass DOJ muster. Now that's third-hand, but short of coming for JS and DS, the pedigree is as good as it gets. Tenaciously long. . . Pat
