Another P4 perf rumor, from one billybob in the aceshardware message board discussion of DeMone's revenge on realtech.com

Hi Paul,

How do you explain that 1.5GHz P4 with 2 clock latency D-cache, half clock latency ALUs
and 400MHz FSB can barely beat 1.133GHz PIII by 1% on SPECint2000 according to Intel's
own numbers with Intel's own latest 5.0 compiler optimized specifically for P4?

Thanks for the courtesy of your reply,

billybob

And a 2nd message:

These are Intel's own SPECint2k numbers for _production_ P4 that Intel is peddling to
OEMs for October 19th introduction.

I will again leave out the links, to discourage another carlb@inqst.com attack.

Cheers, Dan.

albert:

The current price of $28 would seem to discount a "burned down" Dresden, a legal decision to immediately outlaw the use of the Internet, video cameras and cellular phones and looking ahead to negative earnings in Q3, Q4 and throughout Y2001...That compares to what some of us believe is a fast ramping state of the art Dresden,a doubling in Internet users every 100 days, exploding video camera and cellular phone unit sales and record Q3 and Q4 earnings with the strong likelihood of all this positive earnings trend continuing throughout Y2001 and a price around $75 by year end...Should be an interesting 3-1/2 months as it becomes clearer which assumptions reflect more accurately the AMD reality...
