SPR

I don't think that a release of oil from the SPR would lower the price of oil by $5 a barrel. Does anybody here agree with this other then PP.

I would expect Clinton to release a small portion of the SPR to help cool energy prices to help Mr. Gore get elected.

<<Northeastern senators have been calling for the release of crude from the SPR for the past year. They believe the SPR needs to be tapped now in order to meet winter heating fuel demand.>>

Ummm, just one question. If they tap the reserve, and have all this crude lying around, just who do they think will be able to refine it for them? The Elbonians?

US refinery output remains at 95% plus, and the maintainence season is at hand. Tapping the SPR will do NOTHING to increase distillate supplies at this point, its purely political, and clearly unwise from a national security standpoint.
