<I understand from an IBM customer that LTO shipments have been suspended for two weeks due to a problem with drives ceasing to function for an unknown cause. (Who knows how much longer it could be?) >

The cause is unknown yet they will ship again in two weeks.
Hmmmm, a little pressure there, best of luck to them...not.

I heard the 8 and 11mb/sec drives would ship first, the "at least 16" will follow "shortly thereafter".

As usual, we'll have to wait and see.

On another note: Sure hope STOR stabilizes, and returns to triple digits. Will help Creek Path.

Boy, STOR climbed back into triple digits, and EXBT went back over 10 on pretty high volume, while DSS dropped back to what I hope will be some pretty good support just above 13. The van Kasper recommendation sure lit a fire. Exabyte's rise has brought a lot of crazies out of the woodwork on the Yahoo thread, to such an extent that I can't even read it anymore.

I don't suppose anyone has any independent information on the various HDD/Maxtor merger rumors on the DSS and Maxtor threads? Allegedly, DSS will be spun off as an independent entity. I find these merger rumors off the wall, as it would almost certainly lead to a loss of market share by the two of them combined. However, in this sector, anything is possible, even a buyout of one of the leading companies in the sector for far less than it is worth while management and the BoD both squeal what a great deal they've cut for shareholders.
