Excellent post, Mike. I especially like the following:

It would not hurt to triple my efforts before I jump on a stock, the days of flitting from one idea to the next, throwing caution to the wind, may be over for me.

I know this is precisely what the stock market is designed to do. Take a toll when you go in, out, in out. You pay up with every move--stand still! Let the market come to you...

Thanks much, Mike.

fwiw, i have played cnqr a long time, and currently sold all my positions at a big loss, but imo, their only hope is to get bought out, they are not viable as a stand alone company, when they run out of cash, there wont be anything left without a buyout (they do have some big name investors, who may want their t&e software, but there are a whole lot better plays out there

THE DOHHHs!!!!my middle name...
i,m in sgnt from 18s. so don't feel so bad. i'm still a little slow at reacting to LANDSLIDES 8 - ]....BIG corrections.
started, rather my wife did, looking at LU a short while ago and then again when AS started touting it. looked at the 3 yr chart (no expert, have a site i check chart reading on) and it showed that 35 or even 26 was possible. anyhow, no in it yet. not much money. stuck with a sizeable pig farm and have to bide my time.
anyway, thanks for the response and here's hopin for the best.
have you read TRADING FOR A LIVING by Dr. Elder? very very good reading. i think i need to beat it over my head at least once a day because it's takin just too long to sink in.
cheers

Mike: I remember buying NT at some point in the first half of 98 thinking I had a real bargain for a position hold. And then it began to do exactly what LU is doing now. And all the analysts came out dissing NT and pushing Lulubelle and the Cisco Kid. NT would never never be able to compete, they said. A third place company -- if that. Over and over. And the stock went down and down and down. The Asian crisis loomed. Geez it was awful. I finally bailed.
There are lots of lessons in that experience, and Ive certainly recovered many times over since then, but given the speed of technology and marketplace stuff sometimes just happens and you make the best of it. But in that NT experience, I think I made every conceivable mistake. Sigh. M2
