*OT* Billy Buckner

1986 World Series. The Red Sox lead the Mets
3 games to 2. They have the lead in the Sixth game
and need only one out to close the Series. The
Mets pitcher hits a ground ball to first base.
Billy Buckner bends to grab the ball, but misses.
The ball goes through his legs and the Mets
hitter is safe at first base. The Mets then
go on to win the sixth game and the Series. If
I remember correctly Billy Buckner had to move
from New England, since no Red Sox fan worth his/her
salt would let him forget this ignominy.

PS: The Red Sox have not won the World Series
since WWI. They are shooting to go a century
before the next one.
