We are seeing a portion of it now, and will see much more, like JAVA based realtime quotes and other services on-line, but most software will be installed on the personal PC. And most new software I believe will be purchased via download. Any new software I purchase is always the downloaded version. The only time I buy a packaged version of software is if a downloaded version is not available.
