MEDFORD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 2000-- ATM/Canterbury Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canterbury Information Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:CITI - news), announced today that in a combined effort, the FBI, U.S. Attorney's Office and the Dept. of Health and Human Services chose Master Trak from ATM/Canterbury to track evidence in their new state of the art facility in Miami. Alan McGaffin, ATM/Canterbury's president said ``When one of these agencies seizes evidence, there is a tremendous amount of coordination involved. One of the tasks required is boxing and cataloging. The traditional method has been to manually fill out inventory log sheets. In an effort to improve on existing procedures, all three agencies created a task force to search the industry for a system which would better automate the process giving them increased control without losing any safeguards for evidence integrity. After a thorough search, they decided that the Master Trak System from ATM/Canterbury satisfied their requirements and even gave them some enhanced automation techniques at the point of seizure to make the tasks of cataloging much more efficient. It is uncertain at this time what volume of business may result from this relationship, but Master Trak's ability to use barcodes to check evidence in and out of the storage areas and maintain a complete history of movements makes access to information much easier. Agents will have the ability to request specific pieces of evidence from their PC workstations and a request slip will automatically print in the evidence area. Master Trak keeps a record of all requests for historical and reporting purposes.`` Doris Giles of the Miami U.S. Attorney's Office was quoted as saying ``Master Trak's cataloging and requesting techniques are very unique and we had not seen this in other systems. The ATM staff came to our facility and trained our staff on the installation and use of Master Trak. The ATM training team will visit again for an advanced training class, if needed. The ATM Help Desk staff has been very helpful. This is definitely the best system we have seen for evidence tracking''. siliconinvestor.com ... Mezz - All alone on the group W bench.
