Mike, you are quick to challenge others to dig up information for you, but unresponsive when the tables turn. I'm curious to see how you respond to my "Positive Win ME" review challenge, and to Charles Tutt's question "did you not know MS's assertion/assurance that C# was a completely new language which had no connection to COOL was a total lie, or were you actually *in on the lie?" < I have asked and clarified my question, yet you have posted no relevant information so far. > Well, I posted reviews that described, among other things, crashes when trying to install the Win ME upgrade. Obviously without poring through the Win ME source code I can't definitively distinguish between Instabilities in the operating system code and Incompatibilities with hardware or software. And if I were tasked with fixing these Instabilities or Incompatibilities, the distinction would be important. However, as a user, I really don't care whether Windows ME is Incompatible or just Unstable. The point is, if you install it as an upgrade, it crashes. Another excellent review was an article by Walter S Mossberg in the Wall Street Journal, but I don't subscribe to the online version, and can't post a URL. Perhaps you can find it and post it? A follow-on Mossberg piece <http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=14381562> says that the incompatibilities or instabilities are apparently not limited to the upgrade. To be generous, maybe Windows ME crashes a lot because of plain old fashioned sloppy workmanship. But based on past experience (any DRDOS or QuickTime 3.0 users here?) I tend to suspect that crashes were intentionally left in, to be used as bludgeons against those pesky MSFT competitors. For example, one common complaint with Win ME is that Windows Media Player simply doesn't work on many machines (even new machines, see the Mossberg piece). Is this just because it was rushed out the door, or is it because certain incompatibilities or instabilities were necessary to successfully crush Real Networks? You be the judge.
