Hi GZ: Agree with your assessment. One item to point out is the tax incentives for the limited partnerships disappeared so you won't have $$'s being thrown into the discovery sector like you had in the 70's. In the old days wealthy individuals used to invest in the sector and have an immediate 70% write off. In effect risking 30 cents on the dollar for a 1 in 20 chance of a discovery well paying off. We'll the odds are better today for discovery due to technology improvements and while the government will give you 35 cents on the dollar as a passive loss investors only realize the loss when they dispose of thier investment.
