ITeX Shipped Over 1 Million ADSL Chipsets
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated Telecom Express, Inc.(``ITeX(TM)'') (Nasdaq: ITXI - news), a provider of ADSL integrated circuits and software announced today the Company has shipped over 1 million units of its Apollo family of full-rate ADSL modem chipsets into the CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) and CO (Central Office) markets.

The Apollo family of ADSL products has been supplied to key customers including Alcatel, Hyundai, Nokia, Samsung, Xpeed, ACN, and Interlink. ITeX has over 65 additional design wins for the Apollo family. Products built with the Apollo family of chipsets have been deployed by telecommunications carriers worldwide.

The Apollo series is fully compliant with ANSI T1.413 Issue 2, G.dmt and G.lite standards. It is capable of operating at up to 8 Mbps downstream from CO to CPE and 800 kbps upstream, with a line reach of up to 20,000 feet. In addition, ITeX supports wide area network (WAN) protocols including Classical IP over ATM, Bridged Ethernet over ATM, PPP over ATM, and PPP over Ethernet, and Windows drivers for Windows 95/98/2000/Me and NT4.0.

So they used a 50% figure and rounded up to get to that expected Q2 revenues...huh? AWRE has said their bottom line has the potential of being explosive. I'm not clear as to the purpose Virata thinks it's serving by stating numbers so early. Maybe the analysts will move up the estimates and remove the chances for a surprise by beating them.
