J.W. and Skeeter,

If I may be so bold I would like to enter this conversation. I am in the 'Business Process Reengineering' business and have been focused on improving productivity since 1992. The most amazing phenomena observable over that period of time was how long it took people to use PCs and other technology for what they were rather than simply trying to use them like super calculators and accounting journals and typewriters.

From my point of view (in the thick of the battle) it is obvious that the productivity gains seen in the last few years are real and are the result of people changing the ways they do business in order to exploit technology to create new wealth - usually in the form of cost savings and increased productivity; however, improved customer relations and improved communications also contribute.

Sorry all, I didn't mean to get on a soap box - just couldn't help myself.

Sting

jim, the productivity numbers didn't see it. that's why they changed the numbers. this is not opinion or anecdotal anything.
