Wireless trivia here: I am wearing a T-shirt today from Jimmies November 15, 1995 private concert in a downtown DC theater. The party celebrated the launch of digital wireless in the United States. About 1,500 Sprint & Sprint Spectrum employees, GSM Vendors, DC politico's etc., with Larry King the MC, and JB & Coral Reefers doing the music non stop for 4 hours. Tab picked up by Ericsson and Motorola. The theme was "Changes in Attitudes": There were masses of people doing "Fins" between stage and first row of seats up and down the aisles. Best concert I've seen by him or anyone. << jimmy sold his key west house and moved up here >> Also now has residence in NYC does he not? My personal favorite, commereating my favorite American author:They're sendin' the old man home Back where the buffalo roam Out in the Pacific, they say he was the best Now he's in his "civies", headin' home like all the rest He'll never forget Rosa Lee Or sleepless nights he fought upon the sea He'll only have the memories Or great books by James Jones 'Cause they're sendin' the old man home Faraway (Faraway) Faraway (Faraway) Another life so very far away They'll tear down the officers clubs And write off the overdue subs So let's drink to their memories Our heroes and our pals To those crazy Navy flyers To those swell Hawaiian gals The sailors will dance in the street Then they'll mothball the whole damn fleet We'll only have the picture books Of land, and sea, and foam 'Cause they're sendin' the old man home He'll only have his memories Or great books by James Jones 'Cause they're sendin' the old man home Tek's gonna chime in hear any minute and tell us James Jones papers are archived at Yale, or sing a chorus of the Whiffenpoof song. - ce@sonofasonofasailor.com
