That well may be, but it may take 20 years for that to happen and that is just to too long a time frame to work with. Also, by the time that it happens, semicaps and chip makers may be valued the way autos or at least aircraft part manufacturers are valued, which is not a very high multiple. On the other hand, many semicaps stocks tend to have a 4 fold jump from trough to peak in their cycle. And I think there are much worse things to do with you money than to double or quadruple it over the next 2 years or so. ST NB I don't expect AMAT to outperform the more deeply discounted semicaps.
