It is difficult to know. The 1.7GHZ yield seems to correspond to other rumors however to the effect that yield is good. It does seem that the potential here is for a lot more than a few 100K units.

If the platform is good, Intel could ramp production rapidly and sell all they can make.

RDRAM presentation/shipments
According to the Rambus presentation today, approximately 16 million 128Mb RDRAM's shipped year to date. Forecast is <30 million through 2000, including some 256Mb chips in Q4'00.
Through Q3 I would guess that Work Stations and PSX2 consumed most of the 16 million chips. With the ramp of W/S's and PSX2, I'd guess another 8-10 million chips for those systems in Q4'00. The balance appears to support Yu's statement of only "100's of thousands of P4 in Q4'00".
