ZX, On August 30, 2000, Esterline Technologies reported fiscal 2000 third quarter earnings of $0.45 per share, up 32% from last year’s earnings of $0.34, and $0.04 or 12% ahead of the consensus expectations of $0.41. This marked the first positive year-over-year comparison in five quarters. Sales for the quarter increased 12% to $126 million versus sales of $112.7 million a year ago. The backlog increased 31% year-over-year to $235.8 million. The company attributed stronger than expected financial results to recent acquisitions and solid progress from its businesses serving the printed circuit board industry.
