John and the Intel thread

From the AMD mod thread, here is the full report re the ABN AMRO upgrade. It seems the different analysts need to get in sync. They are looking more stupid than usual. I think the note at the bottom is particularly useful.....wasn't AMD the one with the demand problem?

Intel Corporation: Worries About 3Q PC Demand Unfounded,

Upgrade To Buy
.......................................
Highlights:
- We are upgrading our rating from Outperform to Buy with a 12-month price
target of $78, which is a P/E of 40 times our calendar 2001 EPS estimate.
- Recent indications from direct PC vendors - Dell Computer (NASDAQ:
DELL-$36.25, N/R) and Gateway (NYSE: GTW-$58.65, N/R) indicate 3QCY2000 is
off to a typical seasonal pick-up.
- The SCI Systems (NYSE: SCI-$45.81, N/R) pre-announcement of a PC-related
shortfall of $100 million out of a revenue base of $2 billion in 3QCY2000
does not appear to reflect an industry-wide trend.
- The very well attended ABN AMRO sponsored conference call with Micron
Technology (NYSE: MU-$66.06, Top Pick) on 9/13, reassured us that 3QCY2000
demand from major PC OEMs is normal.

Reason for Note: Jitters about PC demand create favorable risk/reward

We urge investors to take advantage of the window of opportunity provided by
weakness in Intel's share price caused by concerns about demand that we
believe are misguided.
