This takes me back, T. Intel may not publish 815 spec numbers, but they used to publish BX spec numbers. On that front, with the p3-800, the 820 smoked the BX running PC100(!) memory by an awesome margin, 38.4 to 38.3 in SPECint95. spec.org , spec.org.

Tench,
The awswer is quite clear to me.
Intel originally set out to make Rambus look good. Now they are backtracking and covering their behind. They will still promote it because they have nothing else for P4...
When they do, RAMBUS will be purely niche.
BTW, how many engineers do they have working on DDR and SDRAM chipsets for Willy and Timmy?
Heads should roll at Intel. Don't be surprised if you are promoted faster than you thought...<G>
