I think, to use your own analogy that one must first be married before one can get a divorce. I only pointed to his own words to show that his view of God was not the biblical view.
"I may have preached a sort of pantheistic God but This God was existent everywhere and he was always available or accessible for he was universal and omnipresent and dwelled within you as well as without you. I taught the divinity of the inner or real self."

While everybody is entitled to hold their own view, when it comes a personal relationship with God , then it is God Himself that sets the parameters of that relationship. For instance God insists that all people have sinned (failed to meet the standard of righteousness that reflects God's own person and character) And are therefore not only separated, but in fact stand guilty before a Holy God. "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;"(Rom 1:18) This man however "taught the divinity of the inner or real self." hardly what one would call orthodox and I suspect this is only the tip of the iceberg

If I decided to become an American and took the oath of allegiance but then proceeded to work with foreign agents in a plot to overthrow the government I would rightly be charged with treason. If I further declared that I never really believed the words of the oath anyway then not only would my loyalty, but also my integrity could be legitimately questioned. I don't see it as narrow to point that out. Of course I have noticed that as I get older, my narrow waist and my broad mind seem to be changing places so who knows?
Have a good day
