Yes but don't we really care much more about MASS markets and high growth and profit companies: thereby earning enough lucre off of SNDK etc. to put tube amp stereos in every room in the house, if need be, to indulge certain golden investor's golden ears? Hmm?

Please, sometime when you are killing time, audition some two channel tube based HIFI at a speciality HIFI showroom

I've done this numerous time. Have not been particularly impressed, especially considering the prices involved. Tube amps can certainly sound different than transistor amps, but it's not because they are more accurate it's because they have more pleasing distortion.

In the bang-for-a-buck race, nothing beats a GOOD transistor amp.

Lew,

re: "Okay. Please, sometime when you are killing time,
audition some two channel tube based HIFI at a speciality
HIFI showroom. Very few people have heard accurate music
reproduction. If you've never heard it, you don't know
what it sounds like."

Some folks will only drink very fine wines, the majority of us get by with a recent vintage California Cabernet. There will always be a small but profitable market for the super premium, and there will always be a much larger market for the good to very good. MP3's provide a convenient and inexpensive good, at this point.

John
