Pat (is this a "nipping at the heels", or "eating the fringe of the core" issue)?

I am starting to see everyone and their brother getting into optical components business/division. Just check the press releases in a search on the word "optical" lately, and you'll see what I mean.

All the biggies, and some small ones to. AMCC, PMCS of course. Earlier, BRCM, KOPN. Now KOMG and RDRT.....??

Ironically, the CNXT news of the the company split did NOT mention optical (to my knowledge).

So...we know the field is wide open and there's insatiable demand....yada, yada, yada...but more entrants will, even in a small way, take business away from the big guys.

It's like CSCO keeps growing, but certaintly SCMR, JNPR, etc are taking business from them.
