milesov, Bdog,

...alright already...

What symbols over the last 3 months here have been associated with the IL/ACT/RR dynamic? I'll leave it to you to look 'em up but ADTK, KEI, AINN, EXTR and currently ALSI and DGX come to mind. Everybody may have a different definition as to what a "home run" is but I think the case can be made that there have been no bunts, let alone strike-outs, on the IL front.
The IL/ACT/RR system is based on trendlines for constructing a plan. Volume plays a role in entering short. All the lines exist prior to entry so there's no guesswork involved. Wart and I worked up a scan series for possible violators and about 10 or 20% of them fit the algorithm. There's no way to backtest it with scan code because the algorithm isn't codable but the ones that fit have 0% failure.
I realize it's eod stuff and holding for a while is required. Entry and exit is best done intraday but knowing what the stock's doing can allow you to place hard stops.
EXTR from 99 to 73 in about a week then back over 90 2 days after hitting the ACT is not a fielder's choice IMO...it's a home run. Same with AINN from 29 to 16 and now, post-ACT, has reached 19...on its way to 22 1/2. KEI was a bit ugly but the moves it made in relation to the construct brought all base runners home.
If you only play 15 or 20 symbols per year (that would be at least 30 or 40 positions entered)...you can make some really serious money with the IL to ACT and RR from the ACT.
Current violators still on the way to the ACT are DGX and ALSI. AINN is just starting RR and today's pullback is a good place to enter/add.
So if you're looking for a system that works...go back to the seminar manual :-)
I won't even go into MIMBOs here...but 8 or 10 of them per year...done properly...actually ouperform IL plays.

thanks milesov. superb post yourself. but jeepers, ya gotta hit that enter key every once in a while and give us some white space, or give us a bouncing ball to keep eyes in place, hadta start over quite a few times...lol.

GREAT points and questions to ask oneself. I hope more will enter into this discussion and post. much to learn from it. I need to print it out and paste it on the wall.

"all in all, i think that doug's eod system and insights into technical analysis are useful."

I agree, 56 rocks. I use it all the time...

sorry bout the caps...

seems what you want out of a system is a simple entry point and then assess whats happening after. after the trade is entered, the tricky part starts, buying is easy, selling is another story.

Very probably, the truest possible words on trading.
