I think yours is a fair view. By Tuesday or so we will see if any great harm has been done to the retail investor. Certainly it won't be the horror show we got with the preferred deals.

As to "clout," where were Huber and Onstar on this? Does handling a modest $45 million best-effort offer taint the Investment Bank that much? Does it amount to an implicit "buy" recommendation?

Seconds -- Good assessment. On another note, Dain Rauscher is reiterating their GMGC Buy recommendation this morning and commenting on the SPWX alliance. The analyst believes that investors should be encouraged by GMGC's aggressive attempts to expand its customer base through partnerships with key technology providers. He thinks that the company's relationships with IBM, Lernout and Hauspie,
Excite/AtHome, Nuance and Speechworks will help GMGC diversify its revenue base moving forward. Further, GMGC's participation in Speechworks' SpeechMedia Alliance, which is exploring speech-enabled advertising for Internet companies, should also open additional avenues for revenue growth.

Basically, I look at GMGC as being in the process of gearing up their partnering relationships (with very impressive results so far) and laying the groundwork for revenue-building in the future . . . each announcement such as SPWX significantly adds to the potential here.

Best,
