Nice theory but mine does a better job of explaining the facts. AMD has a chipset of their own and fab capacity to boot. Yet still not enough chipsets to meet demand? I don't think so. I think the reason AMD can only make 3.6 Million Athlons in Q3 is because AMD can only make 3.6 Million Athlons in Q3.

Then why did Prue downgrade AMD saying that they were concerned about inventory buildup from low infrastructure support? Wasn't this backed up by Dean Kent's monthly infrastructure report? And what about todays rumor from the Reg saying that AMD is asking distributors to take inventory off their hands to make the shipment goals?

The infrastructure problem is a serious one. But it's also temporary. If your low yield theory is correct, I'd be more concerned. Do you have any other reason for believing so? Sure your not getting AMD mixed up with Intel?
