found this post in ELNK, does this mean that DSL competition is greater for CMTN because of the fiber line?

Hi Addi,
I saw your inquiry on DSL and thought I'd add my two cents. In SBC land the distance limitation is being resolved
rapidly by the rolling out of neighborhood gatesways which are Alcatel fiber-remotes. Four thousand are scheduled by
the end of this year and accelerating into next year. (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/000908/tx_sbc_com.html).

Here in Verizon country, where I am, the fiber remotes are not yet underway and I've gone with RoadRunner till VZ
gets their act together. (I understand they will be doing the same thing with Marconi fiber remotes). Right now the
race to deploy DSL worldwide is finally underway.

All the best,
Michael
