You guys throw up words like "communism" and "socialism" very loosely without truly knowing their meaning. The argument that you put forward was used by the very same business owners who used to have bonded laborers and still do in many other countries.
Someone correct me, wasn't this a common argument during the slavery era that Republican party tried very hard to abolish?

don--

You might as well ask why everyone who goes into business shouldn't be guaranteed a net profit.

(A self-employed person can pay himself a set wage or salary. Many do. Many can't.)

Taking money out of my taxpayer pocket to subsidize employers who won't pay a decent wage to workers is also "communism."
