Bami tried to stress that ANAD is doing it's best to diversify it's RFICs business, since this is what shareholders have been insisting on. He continued to point out that datacom, cable and optical are doing very well and have high margins (45-50%+). Being one of the top chip suppliers in the cable industry should help ease the pain from the company's standpoint.

While some of ANAD's chips are getting older and being phased out during the next couple of quarters, their newer replacements are on track to pick up the slack. 2001 should be a much better year for the company - but getting this black eye at the end of 2000 doesn't help at all, IMO.

Of course his job is to minimize the damage and try to focus the investment community on the positives that the future offers.

IMHO, I don't think he did a good job of explaining why it has taken months for the Philips fire's trickle down affect to finally be announced by ERICY/ANAD. His answers about ERICY's global inventory analysis having taken this long to reach this conclusion, and therefore the cancellation/reduction of product orders to ANAD didn't really sit that well with me, but I might be too critical on him.

Of course there are plenty of positive things happening at ANAD and he did his best to point them out. This is probably a very good buying opportunity for those with a long term outlook.

I can't help but wonder what other issues can surface to derail ANAD in the future?
