Oil soaring.!
That must be due to the OPEC minister saying that they were determined to bring it down. ;-)

OPEC would be better to shut up with the news releases and statements right now and concentrate on production, if they truly want to keep the price increases to a minimum.
It won't drive the price of oil down (by much at least) but it'll help if people are not being made aware that oil is going up, despite that every possible barrel is being produced by everyone and his dog.

This is not an overnight problem, as it has been coming for some time, and it could get worse before it gets better.
I agree that $40 oil is a distinct possibility in the near future.

Interesting article in Contrary Investor about the origins and magnitude of this oil supply/price crunch. I think it's over in the Centurion board. Well illustrated and shows some sense of humour about the hypocrisy of the situation.

When North Americans get wealthy, buy houses that increase in value due to shortages of land and get raises due to shortage of skilled people; that is called "creating wealth". But when a finite commodity, which is essential, increases in price due to a shortage of supply, that is called "unfair extortion."

It lays the blame squarely where is belongs, on the demand side and attributes it to complacency.

GNY's price may be softish this week but even without any further oil/gas strikes I believe it is grossly undervalued and will rise with the increased realisation within NA, that energy prices are up for some time to come and O&G stocks are king for the next year or two (or 3 or 4 hopefully).
I fully expect GNY to be $1 before Christmas.
There appears to be an increasing trend for larger partners to buy out their minority partners within successful joint ventures. That may be one way that full value for GNY may be realised.

Good investing, that's what I'll call it. ;-)
