Well, I have reached a limit on the topic, I am afraid. I have inclinations, but do not care enough, and it has not been an area I have concentrated on. I generally think that the government should try to avoid imposing the costs for initiatives through mandates, although there is sometimes justification. If we want to have a welfare initiative to ensure a reasonable income for the poor, my inclination is to spread the costs around through direct subsidy out of the public coffer. If the employer incidentally benefits, I do not find that alarming.
