I trade (cash) index options (w/ euro-style expiration like SPX), and to my limited knowledge of futures, only 2 primary reasons I would move to SP futures: added liquidity and reduced margin reqts. but that's because the advantages you cite do not apply to options like SPX due to cash-settlement and euro expir.
but I can see the advantages for equities.
